The mission of Rocky Mount Area Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the Rocky Mount Area, and to make decent housing a matter of conscience in our community.
Our ministry is based on the convictions that to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, we must reflect Christ’s love in our own lives by loving and caring for one another. Our love must not be just words; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.
Rocky Mount Habitat provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action, bringing diverse groups of people together to make affordable housing and better communities a reality for everyone.
Rocky Mount Area Habitat for Humanity has build more than 54 homes in our community since it’s founding in 1991. Rocky Mount Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Habitat for Humanity International and it’s affiliates represent nearly 2,600 communities in 100 nations, and have built more than 300,000 homes since 1976. Habitat selected families put in 300 to 400 hours of “sweat equity” and purchase the house on a no-profit, no-interest 20 year mortgage.
